Meet the Coaches


Alison Burns - Co Owner/FL & Skype Coach (@alisonburns1234) Alison graduated from New York City’s American Musical and Dramatic Academy in 2001 and has been a working artist ever since. She made her professional debut as Maureen in the National Tour of the Broadway Musical Rent and has since starred in many shows including: tick, tick... Boom!, I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change, The Rocky Horror Show, Waist Watchers, Respect, Godspell, Man of LaMancha, Comedy of Errors, and Bernarda Alba.  Her choreography has been seen in Rocky Horror, Godspell, Respect and Silence! The Musical . Her lyrics have been heard in A Big Apple Christmas, Waist Watchers and Holiday Party of One. Alison has been a musical theater instructor since 2006 when she became director of Patel Conservatory's Youth Theater Company, directing them in shows such as Grease and Willy Wonka. She co-founded act up!!!, a theater troupe for teens, where she has written over a dozen original shows and she is currently working on an original childrens CD! She most recently starred in New York City's Off Broadway show, Disenchanted!  and American Stage's HAIRSPRAY (Velma). She can currently be found popping up on your TV screens in a variety of commercials and after all that, she still finds time to tour the world with Disney composer, David Friedman, in Listen to My Heart. 

 


Lulu Picart - Co-Owner/FL, NYC & Skype Coach (@lulupicart) Lulu was most recently seen as Charlotte in the First National Tour of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella. She has music directed for Norwegian Cruise Lines, Walt Disney World, freeFall Theatre, Universal Orlando Resort, Orlando Shakespeare Theatre, and more. She serves as clinician for small vocal ensembles and large choirs and holds masterclasses in performance and working with accompanists. Lulu has also been an audition and performance accompanist for several theaters and production companies including Universal Orlando and Orlando Shakespeare Theatre. She was a judge for The American Idol Experience at Walt Disney World and has adjudicated for the Florida Vocal Association.  As an actor and singer, she has been seen around the country regionally and off-Broadway (Lortel nomination, Best Featured Actress in a Musical, Disenchanted!). She tours with composer David Friedman presenting his music in Listen to My Heart: The Songs of David Friedman.  She has sung with Toxic Audio, The Voices of Liberty, and the Orlando Philharmonic and has been featured in the Orlando Cabaret Festival and the Avignon Jazz Festival. Lulu also worked as an improvisational actor (Comedy Warehouse alum) for many years at Walt Disney World. She is the co-composer of the CD I’m a Creation Kid. Her voice can be heard on the Frozen Blu-Ray, and she will be seen in the upcoming film Going in Style (2017).

Joy Gann - Tampa Bay Coach (@joygann) Joy Gann is a graduate of USF's School of Music for voice with a Bachelors of Music. She resides in the Tampa Bay area and has performed for the Tampa Bay Rays VS. the New York Yankees at Tropicana Field. She won first place for Philfest's 20th Anniversary singing competition, Tawag ng Tanghalan and was featured in her own recital for the performance series at the Dalí Museum in St. Petersburg. She also performs with the Master Chorale of Tampa Bay with the Florida Orchestra and has starred as Lucy in The Telephone by Gian Carlo Menotti and as Isabel in Pirates of Penzance by Gilbert & Sullivan. She is the vocal supervisor and lead vocalist for PasadenaAM in St. Petersburg, she has taught a capella group, BLSS, and has been coaching voice, ukulele, guitar, and piano for over two years.

Matthew McGee - Masterclass Teaching Artist (@thematthewmcgee) Originally from THE cultural Mecca Washington, Georgia, Matthew McGee has been an actor and drag performer for over 20 years. His numerous appearances range from out-of town Broadway tryouts, regional theatre companies, summer stock, show bars, dinner theaters, independent films, national commercials, outdoor musicals, night clubs and retirement villages. Awards include: Broadway World’s Favorite Leading Actor in a Musical (MAME, THE FROGS), Theatre Tampa Bay Awards for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Musical (THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW) and Outstanding Featured Actor in a Musical (THE MIKADO), Sarasota Herald-Tribune’s Handy Award for Best Duo (LIVING ON LOVE), Creative Loafing Tampa’s Best Local Drag Performer (Reader’s Pick) and Watermark Magazine’s Favorite Local Stage Performer (Reader’s Poll). Matthew has appeared in and out of drag in films MISCONCEPTIONS and SMALL GROUP, as well as national spots for Chevrolet, Gotomeetings.com, Domino’s Pizza, Amscot, Beef ‘O’ Brady’s and The New Jersey Turnpike. Matthew had the great honor of starring opposite R & B legend Deborah Cox in the successful Broadway tryout of JOSEPHINE THE MUSICAL with Asolo Rep. With Scott Daniel, Matthew co-created the popular mother-son cabaret duo, Scott and Patti. The Scott and Patti Show has played in venues all over Florida and has opened for Debbie Reynolds, The Village People, Lea DeLaria, Del Shores and the hilarious Leslie Jordan. Creative Loafing Tampa named The Scott and Patti Show “Best Local Cabaret Act' (Critics’ and Reader’s Pick). Matthew currently lives in Tampa, FL.
